TOUCHDOWN preview- can the Wolves maintain their winning streak?
With just one more day until the Warwick Wolves take to the field at Butts Park Arena, excitement and motivation is truly building. The reigning Premier North champions will look to continue their fine form this season to go 3-0 with what will hopefully be a second momentous triumph under the lights in Coventry tomorrow afternoon.
That’s right everyone—TOUCHDOWN is back this year and looks to be bigger and better than ever before. Yet again, the Wolves will face division rivals Nottingham Trent (NTU) Renegades in a Premier North showdown, which is sure to be packed full of action and excitement.
The Wolves will be hoping to continue their success from the beginning of this season, having beaten Northumbria in a dominant display which saw them defeat the Mustangs 24-7. Warwick have also already faced and subsequently triumphed over NTU themselves this season, in a close contest which saw the Wolves forced to make a comeback in the third quarter to register their 14-10 victory.
The Boar Sport have been in contact with the club to find out their feelings in the lead up to the event; they responded,
We are feeling excited and motivated as we have already beaten them before, and we are confident that we can do it again. Especially in front of a big crowd, where we can get the extra motivation to perform and do our best
When asked about how playing in an arena differs from the usual pitches, the club commented on the electric atmosphere provided by supporters, giving them “the extra push to perform to the max” in the hopes that they can “satisfy the fans that came to support”, which just proves how important spectators’ presence is for the team.
The club also told The Boar that TOUCHDOWN is set to be even more exciting than its maiden event, which took place in 2024: “The vibes are going to be better than last year […] and hopefully a better game as well”. This atmosphere at this year’s game is due to be much bigger, with a DJ, as well as a bigger inclusiom of Warwick’s cheer squad, the Devils.
Last year saw a brilliant half-time performance from the Devils, but this year the squad is set to be much more involved during the game itself too; cheering on the side-lines and encouraging both the fans and the players.
It therefore seems as though Saturday afternoon will prove to be a very close game: all the more exciting for us supporters! If you want to come along and watch, tickets are £6 or you can save by buying 5 for £25. Kick off is 3pm on Saturday 22nd November and tickets can be purchased at this link.
Keep an eye out for The Boar Sport’s coverage across the weekend!
