Leamington Spa’s Salvation Army makes appeal for donations this holiday season

Leamington Spa’s Salvation Army is calling for support on their Christmas Present Appeal, to share the joy of Christmas with children aged 0-18 who are referred to the organisation.

The Church Leader at Leamington Spa’s Salvation Army, Sarah Johnson, told WarwickshireWorld that “our Christmas Present Appeal is an opportunity for people in our community to embrace the spirit of Christmas and give to families and individuals who have very little”.

She also said: “Christmas is meant to be a time of love and joy, but for many it’s a time of stress and despair when financial worries are brought into sharp focus for families who are struggling to heat their homes, let alone provide presents for their children”.

According to The Salvation Army, over 68,000 presents are sent across the United Kingdom and Ireland for someone in need every year.

The Salvation Army has put out a list of recommended gifts such as Christmas clothing (gloves, scarves, hats), games, toys, gift vouchers, and stationery

The organisation is currently accepting donations in many Salvation Army churches and centres across the UK.

Those wishing to contribute to the Present Appeal in Warwickshire can do so by dropping off unwrapped new gifts at donation centres around Leamington Spa.
