Daily Mail ranks Warwick sixth-best UK university

Warwick has ranked joint sixth place alongside the University of Strathclyde in the Daily Mail’s 2026 university rankings.

Warwick has placed above the universities of St Andrews, Bristol, Bath, Durham, and King’s College to retain its position from last year.

The rankings, led by Imperial College London, Cambridge, and Oxford, described Warwick as a university which “takes on the old guard while embracing the new”, an idea the University embraced whilst undergoing its recent rebrand. The University received notable credit for how much it has achieved despite its relative youth compared to other British universities.

According to the overview provided by the Daily Mail’s rankings, Warwick’s main strengths include high academic standing, graduate employment, research and development commitments, and international reach, with the rankings specially commending the University’s significant overseas intake.

To be recognised […] reflects the dedication, talent, and ambition of our staff and students who make Warwick a world-class centre for research and teaching

Coinciding with its rankings, the Daily Mail published a complete guide to Warwick. The guide lists it as the second-best university in Britain for Economics and Physics and fourth for Marketing, while its weakest subjects are Medicine (13th) and Biology (18th). Warwick’s substantial average graduate salary is presented as its key draw, ranking sixth highest among higher education institutions, at £32,000.

Reacting to the rankings, Vice-Chancellor Stuart Croft expressed great pride in the University’s impressive placement. He said: “To be recognised as one of the country’s leading universities again this year is a testament to the hard work of our dynamic Warwick community. It reflects the dedication, talent, and ambition of our staff and students who make Warwick a world-class centre for research and teaching.”

As the University celebrates its 60th anniversary, Croft added: “Warwick will continue leading the way in research, teaching, and innovation – shaping the future on a global stage.”

Warwick slipped five places in the QS World University Rankings 2026, falling from 69th the previous year to 74th amid widespread drops for UK universities. Executives will no doubt embrace retaining this impressive placement in the Daily Mail’s rankings.
