Premier League Transfer Round Up: All the latest on ins and outs

As the start of the 2025/2026 Premier League season grows closer, clubs are still working to assemble their squads ahead of Matchday 1. Whether that be by splashing the cash on exciting arrivals or clearing out and reshuffling the pack with needed departures, all 20 managers will hope to have a settled 25 man squad to chase down success over the next 9 months or so.

Several big names have already come and gone, and with many more moves expected, there’s no doubt the coming weeks will be just as exciting for fans of England’s top flight. So, let’s take a closer look at who’s arrived and who’s departed over the past 7 days or so – and what might be in store – as we count down to the curtain-raiser of football’s most thrilling league:

Confirmed Departures

– Viktor Gyökeres: Sporting CP to Arsenal (£64m initial fee)
After lengthy negotiations, Arsenal have secured the signature of Viktor Gyökeres. The prolific 27-year-old Swedish striker has signed a five-year deal and joins the Gunners with high expectations. Mikel Arteta’s side has been crying out for a number 9 to spearhead their title charge, and Gyökeres could be the final piece of the puzzle in Arsenal’s pursuit of Premier League glory for the first time in over two decades.

– Hugo Ekitike: Eintracht Frankfurt to Liverpool (£69m initial fee)
Sticking with strikers, Liverpool have signed French forward Hugo Ekitike. To land the 23-year-old, the Reds overcame competition from Newcastle, who reportedly had a £70 million bid rejected earlier in the window. His arrival follows the record-breaking £116m deal for Florian Wirtz, along with the additions of fullbacks Milos Kerkez and Jeremie Frimpong, bringing Liverpool’s total summer spend to over £250 million.

– James Trafford: Burnley to Manchester City (£27m)
Manchester City have re-signed goalkeeper James Trafford from Burnley for a record £27m fee for a British keeper. Trafford has been handed the number 1 shirt, raising questions about Ederson’s future and who Pep Guardiola will favour between the sticks this season.

Confirmed Departures

– Marcus Rashford: Manchester United to Barcelona (Season-long loan)
Marcus Rashford has completed a ‘dream move’ to Spanish giants Barcelona, signing on loan and becoming the first Englishman to join the Catalans since Gary Lineker in 1986. The Manchester born winger will hope for a similar goalscoring return as the legendary striker who managed to hit 51 goals across 3 seasons.

– Luis Diaz: Liverpool to Bayern Munich (£65.5m)
Liverpool have also parted ways with Luis Diaz, who joins Bayern Munich in a deal worth £65.5m. Diaz made a strong impact since arriving in January 2022, with only Mohamed Salah scoring more during his time at the club.

Further rumours

Away from confirmed transfers, the biggest name on everybody’s lips is Alexander Isak. The Swede has submitted a transfer request amid heavy links to Liverpool, but Newcastle rejected a £120m+ bid and are adamant he’s not for sale.

Meanwhile, Tottenham’s attempted swoop for Nottingham Forest’s Morgan Gibbs-White was blocked amid legal threats, with the midfielder instead signing a new three-year deal at Forest.

With just under a month to go until the transfer window slams shut, there is sure to be even more drama in the coming weeks as negotiations are held and deals are finalised.
