University of Warwick pushes ahead with plans for HealthTech Campus at Arden Cross

The University of Warwick has reached an agreement with Arden Cross and Muse to accelerate the development of a new HealthTech Campus, which was initially proposed last year.

The new campus will drive the surging HealthTech sector and form part of the £3.2 billion regeneration facilitated by the HS2 Interchange in Solihull.

The presence of Arden Cross in Solihull already represents one of the UK’s largest regeneration programmes, driving economic growth through “connectivity and innovation”.

The new campus will unite public and private healthcare providers, the University of Warwick, and industry

This new opportunity will unite public and private healthcare providers, the University of Warwick, and industry in supporting emerging start-ups to access the NHS and markets across the world.

It aims to provide a variety of community-centred benefits.

These benefits may include supporting health and wellbeing in the area by utilising “cutting edge medical research and technology”.

The Campus will also give the opportunity for start-ups to access to the NHS and alternative providers so they can carry out “early-stage development and testing, trials, and evaluation”.

The Campus will provide “tens of thousands of jobs”. It will also create housing, retail buildings, and other spaces – bringing together various investors.

The University of Warwick will support the delivery of the Campus and enable collaboration between the NHS, private providers, and industry

Professor Stuart Croft, University of Warwick Vice-Chancellor

Professor Stuart Croft, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Warwick, stated: “As the lead academic partner, the University of Warwick will support the delivery of the Campus and enable collaboration between the NHS, private providers, and industry.

“We will now be able to accelerate our work, alongside Muse and other partners, deepening our regional leadership and impact.”

The Mayor of the West Midlands, Richard Parker, expressed his support, saying: “Accelerating the development of the HealthTech Campus will create more high-quality employment, build on our competitive advantage, and help improve the lives – and health – of people across the region and beyond.”

The newly reached agreement follows an in-depth proposition and signals the work beginning on the new HealthTech campus.
