Three Warwickshire Police officers suspended after being accused of sending “inappropriate” text messages

Three Warwickshire Police officers have been suspended after allegations that they sent inappropriate messages over WhatsApp.

The incidents occurred from 10 February, 2025 until 12 February, 2025.

Warwickshire Police disclosed that the suspensions were linked to an ongoing internal investigation already happening. A spokesperson for the force said: “The suspensions are in connection to an ongoing internal investigation.”

Warwickshire Police have only disclosed the ranks of the accused officers: superintendent, chief inspector, and sergeant. Warwickshire residents have expressed concerns after high-ranking officers have been accused of such behaviour.

The Boar interviewed an alumnus of Warwick, originally from Warwickshire, who requested to remain anonymous. The former student expressed his concerns over the matter: “I’m not surprised. They always abuse their power, that’s why we can’t truly trust them to keep us safe.”

We expect the highest standards from all our officers, staff, and volunteers, and where there are concerns or allegations that these aren’t being met, we will take action

The suspensions have sparked widespread concerns about public trust in the police, with many questioning the force’s transparency and accountability.

Addressing the widespread outrage, Warwickshire Police said: “We expect the highest standards from all our officers, staff, and volunteers, and where there are concerns or allegations that these aren’t being met, we will take action.

We are committed to being open and transparent around such processes and will share more information when appropriate.”

The incident is the latest in a string of misconduct cases, after a separate police officer was taken into custody and investigated for alleged misconduct in public office in October 2024. The officer was later suspended on 28 November, 2024.

Warwickshire Police’s statement on this incident said: “A special constable was suspended pending an investigation into alleged inappropriate use of WhatsApp messaging on 28 November 2024.”

Warwickshire Police have only disclosed the officer’s rank, confirming he is a special constable. The Independent Office for Police Conduct concluded that no charges will be brought and granted him bail.
