Styling your Easter wardrobe
Small signs of spring are finally upon us, with the sun just managing to filter through the clouds. With this seasonal change, fashion styles for spring and Easter are coming into the trending sphere once more. So, what should you be wearing to cultivate the perfect Easter wardrobe?
Easter lends itself really nicely to flowy clothes, specifically flowy skirts and dresses
I truly don’t think pastels will ever go out of fashion in spring and they are the uniform for Easter and the rest of the season. Hello! Magazine recommends you wear ‘soft pastels and light, airy fabrics’ and utilise a colour palette of ‘lavender, mint green, and sunshine yellow’ and I could not agree more. Soft pastels in sunny colours such as purples, pinks, and peaches make the perfect outfit for Easter.
However, it’s not just the colour of the garment that’s important for Easter, the fit fabric is too. Easter lends itself really nicely to flowy clothes, specifically flowy skirts and dresses. I also love a cute blouse at Easter – all the IT girls are wearing white ones, such as the ‘Bibi blouse’ from Minka Dink London, but I also love their ‘Lola Top’ right now which is backless with a bow, just the right vibe for Easter.
Another classic Easter look revolves around an overindulgence in florals which when done well, can look great and very springlike as well as bright and fun. Just be careful not to wear too many patterns or florals at once, pick one feature piece to centre the outfit around. Speaking of patterns, a quilt pattern is perfect for early spring and Easter and can be a lovely pattern for tote bags or quilted jackets.
Don’t forget the winter staples though. Jumpers can still be a fan favourite for layering outfits in Easter and keeping warm when spring is still a cold season, which is often the case in the UK. I also love adding pops of gingham to Easter and spring outfits. It’s a great pattern for blouses or oversized scrunchies which are a perfect accessory for Easter and are still in, no matter what people say.
An English Easter classic is the tea dress which is lovely for layering or on its own and is a versatile option whether your Easter plans involve heading to brunch, partaking in an egg hunt, or going to church. As it’s still set to be a bit chilly in early to mid-spring tea dresses are also a fantastic option because of their mid-length. Spring is also the time for fun shoe options and they can be shown off under a tea or midi dress. I’m really loving vibrant kitten heels, ballet flats, or chunky Mary Janes to elevate any Easter outfit. I do warn against wedges in Spring though, they’re purely a summer shoe.
Whether something is ‘in’ or ‘out’ shouldn’t impact your choice to wear it, but I do encourage you to have fun with your spring and Easter fashions
One trend I hope we see the back of in spring is the fisherman aesthetic, overalls, and chunky cable knit belong solely to the depths of December. A trend I do hope persists though is colourful trainers and bedecking bags. It’s so important to add a touch of your own vibe to your outfits and adding key rings to bags and ribbons for laces can really add some personality and fun in springtime.
Overall, whether something is ‘in’ or ‘out’ shouldn’t impact your choice to wear it, but I do encourage you to have fun with your spring and Easter fashions. Ditch the warm coats and say hello to your denim jacket again, adding pops of colour and vibrancy alongside it. I hope we see lots of fun footwear choices, pastel patterned dresses, and quilted jackets for Easter 2025, and don’t forget to utilise charity shops or websites such as Vinted or Depop for sustainable second-hand trend hunting this spring.
