2025 Brits Fashion – the best and most questionable outfits

The 2025 Brit Awards ceremony took place on March 1 at The O2 Arena in London, with Jack Whitehall hosting the ceremony for the fifth time. Los Angeles has the Grammys, New York has the MTV Video Music Awards, and London, of course, has the Brits. Despite having less prestige than its US counterparts, it more than makes up for in spirit. While the Brits is an award show that recognises the best in British and international music, it is undoubtedly one of the red-carpet events of award season eagerly awaited by fans for the fun and flamboyant outfits worn by their favourite celebrities. From Dua Lipa’s 2021 sculptural Vivienne Westwood corset to Harry Styles’ headline-making Gucci ensembles, the red carpet has become a spectacle in its own right.

In line with Charli XCX’s brand, her outfit choice didn’t come without controversy and risk

The Brits have long been a place for celebrities to try something a bit more fun. This year, the carpet featured a range of denim gowns, an outfit made of teddy bears, and a great deal of sheer clothing. Before Charli XCX swept the awards show with five awards, including Artist and Album of the Year, she similarly dominated the red carpet in a black, sheer gown from Dilara Findikoglu. In line with Charli XCX’s brand, her outfit choice didn’t come without controversy and risk: “I heard that ITV were complaining about my nipples… I feel like we are in the era of ‘free the nipple’ though, right?” the singer said as she accepted an award.

Sabrina Carpenter, who was one of the most talked about guests due to her risqué performance, arguably had some of the most stunning looks. She opted for a pink, ruffled, sequinned gown from Alexander McQueen and a sparkling Bvlgari statement necklace before swapping into the glitzy, red showgirl number for her performance.

Unfortunately, Teddy Swims, Lola Young, and Jason Isaacs did not deliver in the fashion department

Also wearing stunning outfits were Jade Thirwall in Diesel channelling Marie Antoinette, Maya Jama in archival John Galliano, and Maura Higgins in Galia Lahav. Unfortunately, Teddy Swims, Lola Young, and Jason Isaacs did not deliver in the fashion department at the awards. Teddy Swims looked as though he had pinned a collection of teddies to his clothes, Lola Young looked like every other young woman her age with nothing standing out from her look, and Jason Isaacs wore a simple Topman, fratboy-esque blue suit with trainers. Whilst it’s more unusual for men to stand out in the same way women do with fashion on the red carpet, just look at the outfits at the annual Met Gala: at least Lenny Kravitz, Jared Leto, and Ghetts wore something different and unique.
