Who is Oliver Bearman?: 19-year-old Brit signs with Haas F1
Haas has announced that F2 driver Oliver “Ollie” Bearman will drive with them for the 2025 season.
Ollie currently drives for Prema in F2 and has driven in F1 before for both Ferrari and Haas in practices. He made an incredible debut as an F1 driver with Ferrari at the 2024 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, driving in the place of Carlos Sainz and finishing among the points in seventh.
Bearman will be joined by Esteban Ocon as his future teammate
Before suddenly receiving the call to drive for Ferrari, Ollie had earned pole position in F2 on 3 occasions, proving why he deserved his temporary spot in one of the sport’s top seats.
Over the past year, rumours have circulated of Bearman possibly joining F1 due to his beautiful driving, as well as the need for new, young blood in the sport.
Whilst he is a great driver, there are worries surrounding his move. Most prevalently, Haas is infamous for ending rookie drivers’ careers before they even start (look at Mick Schumacher and Nikita Mazepin), and is also one of the weaker teams on the grid; fans want Ollie to succeed and believe he should have gone to a better, more stable team.
We shall have to wait and see what happens; next season will be filled with new drivers and pairings, a new calendar, and unexpected, shocking moments. Bearman will be joined by Esteban Ocon as his future teammate.
