Staggered return of blended learning confirmed for Term 2 at Warwick

The University of Warwick has announced that, in line with government guidance, a staggered return of blended teaching will be implemented for Term 2.

In an email sent to students, the University also said the asymptomatic testing will resume from 5 January at The Slate.

Students are being “strongly advised” to take two asymptomatic Covid-19 Lateral Flow Tests before they resume face-to-face teaching.

When contacted by The Boar, the University said they will not be providing refunds “as accommodation and teaching will be available and running”.

From 4 January onwards, Warwick Medical School MBChB and Initial Teacher Training are to continue. For week 1 (11 January), “all of the SEM faculty (including WMG)” will resume blended learning, as well as the International Foundation Programme and Theatre and Performing Arts.

From the week beginning 25 January (week 3), all other first-year undergraduates and all other postgraduate taught students will resume blended learning, meaning the first two weeks of teaching will be online only.

From week 4 (1 February), all other second- and third-year students will resume blended learning, meaning the first three weeks of teaching will take place online for these students.

Academic departments are due to give students further information on teaching and learning arrangements.

The University told The Boar: “Accommodation will remain available for all students, as normal right through Christmas and from the start of term.

“Students will need to return earlier than the start of their teaching as they will be strongly advised to take two asymptomatic Covid-19 Lateral Flow Tests before they re-start face to face teaching, and we will continue to provide this service from the 5th of January via the government testing centre at The Slate on campus.

“Some students may also have transport arrangements and travel plans that mean that they may wish to, or have to, return at a time earlier than that which the Government has requested. As accommodation and teaching will be available and running we will not be offering any refunds.”
