Warwick claims Varsity victory for three decades straight
Once again Warwick University has managed to win the annual Varsity competition against rivals Coventry University leading to three decades of victory.
After three intense days of sport, success was finally claimed by Warwick during the Ultimate Frisbee match on Sunday morning leading to a very comfortable win. Last year Warwick secured victory on the morning of the final day and have safely done it again in 2020.
After a rocky start, Warwick managed to keep on progressing on Saturday and achieving win after win
This year there was a serious worry as at the end of Friday the score was 6-8 to Coventry due to some impressive play during the Men and Women’s Futsal and Men’s Basketball. Although, an incredible performance from Equestrian and Women’s Netball with a final score of 59-36 meant that Warwick was never far behind.
After a rocky start, Warwick managed to keep on progressing on Saturday and achieving win after win. Warwick pulled ahead with victories from Badminton, Tennis and Swimming to name by a few and after a brilliant day of matches the score had changed considerably to Warwick’s favour with 35-19.
Victory was finally claimed for Warwick for the 30th consecutive time
With several cancellations and delays on Sunday due to waterlogged pitches, Warwick had cause for concern. However, with the Ultimate Frisbee win in the morning, victory was finally claimed for Warwick for the 30th consecutive time.
This point was secured after a win in Ultimate Frisbee and was then followed by victories from Mixed Lacrosse and draws from Men’s Football and Rugby League.
