Must-have tech for this summer
With the exam season and the last term of this year drawing to an end, many of you will be starting to think about your summer plans. Whether you’re interning, travelling, or just hanging out at home, here’s a round up all of the essential tech items to make your summer even better. From the best travel and map apps to portal chargers and water bottles, here’s a bit of tech we could all use this summer.
Maps.me App
Maps.me is the must-have app for anyone planning on travelling this summer. This is a free offline map that allows you to download certain areas to your phone before you set off on your travels, so your data won’t get eaten up whilst you’re abroad. There’s a built-in navigation feature for driving, cycling, and walking so you can get to your next destination. It also highlights points of interest nearby, such as viewpoints, that you’d otherwise probably miss.
Anker Portable Charger
Lightweight and affordable Anker’s PowerCore 5000 is the perfect size to carry around. Whether you’re staying in hostels with a lack of sockets or dashing about on your new grad job, portable chargers are a necessity in this day and age. Weighing only 136g yet still carrying one complete charge for any phone and bosting PowerIQ charging technology, it’s perfect for work and travel.
9.7” iPad
Apple’s latest iPad release introduces compatibility with the Apple Pencil. The Apple pencil allows you to add handwritten notes “as naturally as you would on paper”. The iPad itself is lightweight, with a 9.7-inch screen and supporting the use of multiple apps at the same time; the iPad is perfect for anyone starting a new grad job or further study. Let’s not forget the staggering 10 hours of battery life!
Chilly’s Bottles
A water bottle that can keep your drink cold for 24 hour – a Chilly’s bottle is a necessity for summer. It comes in multiple sizes ranging from 260ml to 1.8l, as well as multiple colour combinations. The mission behind Chilly’s is to reduce the use of single-use plastic water bottles, whilst allowing people access to cold water when they’re out and about.
Bluetooth Camera Shutter
If you’re travelling all around the world this summer, chances are you’re going to be taking a lot of photos. Using a remote camera shutter can act as the candid photographer you always wished you had. There are many different brands but CamKix makes an affordable one, compatible with both IOS and Android phones.
