POP! cancelled until further notice as Copper Rooms undergoes renovation
It has just been announced that the Copper Rooms will be closing until the beginning of January 2019 to undergo renovation, meaning that POP!, Skool Dayz and other regular Copper Rooms events will be cancelled until further notice.
The news comes after the decision was made to cancel Crash, another regular Copper Rooms event.
It is unclear whether or not the University will decide to relocate Copper Room events. A University spokesperson said: “We recognize the importance of these events to Warwick students and the role they play in shaping the cultural life of the University. Every effort is being made to find a suitable place to relocate. However, finding an adequate location will unfortunately take at least a couple of months.”
It has been reported that the floors and walls of the Copper Rooms have become so saturated with purple that renovators will need months to draw the alcohol from the interior, and remove the purple mould.
It has also been suggested that the walls and floors should be painted purple in order to hide the stains from student spillage.
The University will invest in the region of £150,000 in the new plans, allegedly including a mural at the back of the Copper Rooms dedicated to Disco Dave

A spokesperson for the project told The Boar: “We know this news comes as a tragedy to many students. However, we hope students will take this opportunity to revise more thoroughly for their exams, which is what they should be doing anyway.”
A student who wished to remain anonymous told The Boar: “This is an absolute outrage! They have stolen my only true way to wind down during exams, and robbed incoming freshers of a rite of passage.”
After hearing the news, one student revealed that they had taken the POP! stamp to a tattoo artist, and now have a tattoo of the stamp on their wrist to give them eternal entry to POP!.
***As many of you noticed, our POP! article yesterday was in fact an April Fools. Tickets for next term go on sale this Friday and POP! is running weeks 1-3 and 7-10! ?✨
