New mobile travel app created for Warwickshire
Over £60,000 has been invested in the creation of a new mobile travel app that will improve the experience of commuters in the Coventry and Warwickshire areas.
The MyJrny app works by enabling organisations to link up a person’s travel requirements to particular services offered in a specified area.
Enable iD, the app’s creators, will receive funding from the Coventry and Warwickshire Innovation Programme. The money will go towards helping organisations connect with commuters, in order to make their travel experience more efficient and inexpensive.
Richard Middleton, business development advisor at Coventry City Council, believes that Enable iD could play an important role in the future of the ever-growing transport industry across the region.
Mr Middleton stated: “I believe this company has the knowledge and passion to really play a big part in the future of intelligent mobility, which is something that is set to become a big part of our lives.”
The investment, totalling £62,675, has been supported by Coventry and Warwickshire Local Enterprise Partnership Growth Hub.
When talking about the travel new app, Chris Thompson, chief strategy officer with Enable iD, stated: “We are focusing on really making the travel experience for people living in the region as enjoyable, affordable and efficient as possible.”
“It was great to work with the Growth Hub, who provided links that allowed us to consult transport operators, local businesses and the local authority, all of which are crucial to the delivery of smarter and more integrated transport systems.”
The company currently employs 65 people, many of whom are graduates of the University of Warwick, but there is an expectation for that figure to rise to over 100 people by 2020.
