Let’s Do Brunch

In case you didn’t already know, Leamington Spa is Warwick University’s main student town, full of clubs, pubs and restaurants. At some point in Term 1, it’s well worth getting on a U1 from campus and checking out what the second and third years are all raving on about. If you need to give yourself a little break during the madness that is Fresher’s Week, why not go to one of Leamington’s best brunch spots with some new pals?

Without further ado, here is my list of the top five places to grab a gorgeous brekkie in L’ Spa:

Haunted

39 Bath Street, Leamington Spa, CV31 3AG

Kicking off the list, we have one of Leamington’s newest (and perhaps quirkiest) cafés. Located just down the road from The Old Library (née the Jug), it’s an all year round Halloween themed bar. If you’re a fan of super kitsch, spooky aesthetics, then you’ll be a fan of this place. It has a simple, cheap, and not too fussy menu and they will make you a crepe or a delicious scrambled egg and salmon toast. The staff are friendly and excited about the prospects of becoming one of Leamington’s most popular joints. It is soon to get a full alcohol licence, so you’ll be able to enjoy a drink there as well. Watch out Kelsey’s!

The Coffee Box

43a Clemens St, Leamington Spa CV31 2DP

Located on Brunswick Street, by the canal is The Coffee Box, one of Leamington’s best vegetarian eats. There are a few tables outside, which is a great place to enjoy the summer sun. They have delicious (and very healthy) falafel wraps and salads. However it’s maybe not the best place to go if you’re looking for something for something smothered in bacon and syrup.

Procaffeinate

66 Clemens St, Leamington Spa CV31 2DN

Located just opposite The Coffee Box is the all-new Procaffeinate. With its beautiful terrace, overlooking the canal and brilliant collection of cakes and quiches, it will have you thinking that you’re in a boujie West London suburb. And in the evening you’re able to go through the secret door disguised as a Smeg fridge, to go to its brilliant cocktail bar and live music.

Basement Browns

77-79 Warwick St, Leamington Spa CV32 4RR

Located opposite Watestones in North Leam, Basement Browns blurs the line between brunch and pizza. Its cosy basement is perfect for cold winter mornings. Especially good is its Breakfast Toasty, which I have on many occasions attempted to recreate at home- it’s just that good!.

Zou Bissou

Regent Court Shopping Centre, 20 Livery St, Leamington Spa CV32 4NG

Located just off the parade is Zou Bissou (‘Kissy Kissy’ to all you French students), and is simply a really fun place to go. With its bubblegum aesthetic, funky lamps and oversized chairs it’s a perfect place for pictures for the ‘Gram. It does great milkshakes, crepes and frozen yoghurt. There’s something that really reminds me of childhood about this café.
