Rootes Grocery Store installs 6 self-service checkouts
Rootes Grocery Store on campus has installed 6 self-service tills over the Christmas break. The installations were prompted by the store’s frequent busy lunchtimes, which lead to long queues at the checkouts, and a commitment to listening to customers and improving customer experience on the part of the store. The 6 new additions to the store were installed a few days before Christmas, and it is hoped they will alleviate the queues for the main tills. The new machines will be supervised in case of problems encountered by customers, and will only accept credit/debit cards, contactless and Apple/Android Pay.

Warwick Manufacturing Group’s Paul Roberts tackling procrastination in students
A recent article published by the BBC about procrastination highlighted how Warwick Manufacturing Group’s Paul Roberts is helping to tackle the problem of procrastination amongst student communities. The article suggested that procrastination is becoming a widespread problem in the workplace and is particularly prevalent at universities. In response to the problem, Roberts is running ‘mind-mapping workshops’ at Warwick University to help students break down work into smaller steps, which he says will help them to ‘overcome the inertia of starting’ large tasks.
Warwick’s Any Questions will be hosted on Monday 23 January 2017
Warwick SU President, Luke Pilot, and Vice Chancellor Stuart Croft will be hosting Any Questions in the Warwick Arts Centre from 5-6pm on 23 January 2017. The event gives students the chance to submit questions to those who represent them at the university, and who make important decisions on their behalf. By registering to attend the event, students can debate key issues at the University, and in Higher Education more broadly. The event will give students the chance to voice their concerns and hear them discussed by a panel of experts.
Christmas events on campus over the festive period
Various Christmas events for students spending the festive period on campus were made available by the University over the past few weeks. These included various Christmas gift stalls and markets, at different locations across campus in late December, a candle lit carol service, and even a chance to join Vice Chancellor Stuart Croft for festive drinks on 21 December in the Oculus. The University chaplaincy also organised a Christmas Day Mass and a New Year’s Day Walk, which were both open to all.
