Leamington Spa Railway Station is one of the most haunted in the UK
According to an article recently published by The Daily Mail, Leamington Spa is said to be one of the most haunted railway stations in the UK.
The article described various supernatural experiences at stations from the list of the ‘most haunted railway stations in the UK’. The list was compiled of several stations country-wide, and included another station in the West Midlands, Birmingham New Street station, and various London stations, such as King’s Cross and Covent Garden, as well as several tube stations.
Leamington Spa’s station was built in the 1800s, and has since seen numerous reports of supernatural activity experienced by staff and commuters.
The reports include sightings of spirits on platforms, doors slamming and equipment being switched on and off.
One particularly haunted area of the station is a disused basement area on the third platform, which has a staircase that is partly blocked and seemed to lead nothing.
Another active area that is said to have had strange occurrences, such as paperwork being scattered around, and drawers opening for no reason, is the top floor where the office part of the station is.
In 2014, the station employed a specialist Supernatural Liaison Officer, Nick Rees, to investigate any reports of supernatural activity. He has remained positive about the reported sightings, supposedly claiming that the spirits have “good energy”.
