Why you should join Triathlon and Road Cycling
Were you buoyed by the Brownlee brothers this summer? Or perhaps you were fascinated by Froome? With the University of Warwick Triathlon and Road Cycling Club you can try to follow in their footsteps. But this isn’t the only benefit of joining UoWTRCC: vice-president Scott Jenkins even needed the help of his team-mates to whittle this list down to five…
The Fittest Club on Campus
With over 15 hours of training sessions a week, is there a better way to lead an active lifestyle whilst at Warwick? We annihilated the competition in Warwick Sport’s ‘Swim and Run Grid Challenge’ and our variety of training gives us a great all around physique, far better than the gym!
Sports club of the year…well, nearly
We were shortlisted for Sports Club of the Year, beating 60 other clubs in the process. Alice Cobb won Sportswomen of the Year for her success on the international cycling scene and we came away with medals from over half of the BUCS events we entered. Not bad for a club with just 100 members!
Fast growing
In just the last 5 years, triathlon and cycling have become much more popular sports, we are growing at an astonishing rate and are suitable for complete beginners as well as accomplished athletes. Look out for our Freshers Splash and Dash in week 2 – come and give it a try.
Tour!
This month we’ll be jetting off to France and Spain for some warm weather cycling. Next Easter, we’ll be spending a week in Lanzarote on a training camp holiday to get us in shape for the triathlon season.
A variety of socials
Ranging from trips to the velodrome to watch world class track cycling to an evening of Ice Skating, we go beyond the norm of club meals and nights out in the Students Union, delivering a greater student experience. Though we can be very competitive, the club is about more than just training and racing, but socialising too.
