Why you should join Swimming and Water Polo
The University of Warwick Swimming and Water Polo Club offers its members unique opportunities – and not just the chance to belong to the sports team with probably the longest name on campus. Club president Jenny Chaplin explains how UWSWP could enhance your time at Warwick…
Competition
Both swimming and water polo compete in the top leagues of BUCS, providing members with the rewarding opportunity to compete and train at the highest university level.
Fitness
We offer opportunities for all abilities. Swimming is a far more effective way of toning your muscles than other cardiovascular exercise. As a low impact sport swimming is great for injury prevention, or an opportunity for those suffering with other injuries to stay active without causing further damage.
Development
UWSWP has coaches that will work specifically to improve your swimming technique; an offer available to everyone from complete novices to seasoned athletes. We also provide the opportunity to learn to play water polo, a sport many of our members had not tried prior to coming to university.
Flexibility
By this we mean we offer lots of training sessions, not that you can touch your toes (although this too may be a side effect of our many land training sessions on offer). We often have two or even three sessions available every day, so there is no excuse for not being able to fit sport around your university work.
Fun
Most importantly UWSWP is a fun club to be a part of where you will undoubtedly make friends for life. From fantastic socials, to charity events, inter sports club activities and even our annual domestic and foreign tours – our club is friendly, fun and a big presence on campus.
