London Midland rail improvements: New year, new services
Three new train stations have opened in Warwickshire and the West Midlands around the Coventry area. Coventry is set to see the opening of the Ricoh Arena railway station, with new stations also opening in Bermuda Park and Kenilworth. These stations will be served by London Midland Services.
These stations will eventually be served with a new service running between Leamington and Coventry operated by London Midland. This will give students additional options when travelling between Leamington and Coventry.
The route will also mean that students will be able to get trains from Leamington to Kenilworth.
The overall expenditure of improvements being made by London Midland services comes to £13m with the renewal of the West Midlands franchise set to continue until October 2017.
Within these improvements, London Midland aim to include thousands of extra seats each week, provide free wifi, upgrade ticket machines, improve punctuality of trains and increase the number of parking spaces.
Managing director, Patrick Verwer, said: “London Midland is focused on improving our passengers’ journeys.”
This comes following additional services being announced last month.
