NSS Survey complaints
Some final-year students have reported problems with the National Student Survey (NSS) and have not received their £5.00 reward as promised in the email from the University.
NSS aims to use final-year feedback to improve teaching, learning and student support.
A number of students who were on a year abroad last year have been unable to complete the survey or have not received their promised cash incentive on their Eating at Warwick card.
Those experiencing problems appear to be joint honours students.
Peter Dunn, head of communications, has confirmed that there have been issues previously with a small number of students who have been incorrectly included or excluded from the survey if they have transferred from a three or four year course.
Students on an optional year abroad technically should have completed the survey last year when they were originally registered for their final year.
However some joint honours languages students who were registered for a four year course from the beginning of their course have also experienced problems.
Jennifer Avery, a final-year French and English undergraduate, said: “I’m very disappointed by the fact that I took time out to take the survey and then didn’t get the promised incentive.”
Emma Ly, a final-year French and History student, told the Boar about her problems with the NSS: “After completing the survey and refreshing my Eating at Warwick account balance online at least ten times, the £5.00 balance still failed to appear on my account.”
Ms. Ly later found out that her account had been credited with the money despite showing up online.
“The only way to test if my card had been successfully topped up was to try paying with it in a campus food outlet. Luckily it worked, I would have been pretty embarrassed to hand back the cappuccino I’d just ordered otherwise!”
Students experiencing problems are advised to forward their email confirming completion of the survey to the National Student Survey Team or to pass their student ID number on to the University Communications Office.
