The Health Centre Road will be closed to traffic from Thursday 6 to Wednesday 26 March. The is to be put in place to allow for the set up of a large conference event on the neighbouring Tocil field. A diversion will be put in place through Car Park 8a and the Jack Martin, Tocil and Arthur Vick residences. The will be an enforced speed limit of 5mph until the road reopens on Thursday 27 March.

Students from the University of Warwick Politics Society slept out in the Coventry War Memorial Park as part of Student Volunteering Week, in order to raise money for the homeless. Equipped with sleeping bags and woolly hats,  17 students braved the cold to raise  over £3,000 for homeless charity Coventry Cyrenians on Thursday 26 February surpassing their original funding total of £2500.

A  conference entitled ‘Spy Chiefs: Intelligence Leaders  in History, Culture and International Relations’ will take place at Warwick’s conference facility in Venice, the Palazzo Pesaro Papafava, on 6-7 May 2014. The international conference aims to bring together academics from all over the world to broaden understanding of what it takes to be an intelligent leader.

Chefs at the Newbold Comyn Arms in Leamington Spa will be offering customers free pancakes on  Shrove Tuesday in suppot of a children’s charity. Collection buckets for the charity Zoe’s Place will be on the bar for donations from four to six pm as the chefs cook fresh pancakes on Tuesday March 4.

Warwick University has granted four early career researchers with £50,000 each, funded entirely by philanthropic donations. The grants have been awarded to researchers developing “exceptional projects.” Dr Matthew Gibson has received one of the four donations, and will be using it to help fund the development of a cutting edge new storage method for biological material. Dr Weisi Guo works on Smart Cities at Warwick, and after receiving his donation said: “It’s brilliant that this money has been given to Warwick because it really helps junious academics to step up in their careers.
