Warwick Network hosting on-campus Dragons’ Den

Warwick Network is giving the opportunity to students and staff to pitch their ideas for a new on-campus business on December 12 in front of a Dragons’ Den panel comprising of five evaluators.

Campus and Commercial Services Group will provide £10,000 to the winning applicant who can convince the panel of the commercial realisation of their proposal.

Warwick Network will provide a platform for students to brainstorm and come up with some unique ideas.

There are various types of problems that people face around campus and there are potentially many products and services that, if introduced, could enhance the experience on-campus.

This programme will not only help in fulfilling needs but will also be a medium to look into such problems and come up with a solution.

Ms Olga Lutsenko, an MSc student at Warwick Business School (WBS), said: “Students have lot of ideas and many of them keep talking about starting something on-campus but most of them have no money or support.”

Ms Lutsenko added that though the opportunity given by Warwick Network would be challenging, it will help students to initialise their plan.

She added that students who qualify will be able to learn market dynamics in a real life scenario of something that they want to start while being in the University and can expand on after they graduate.

Ms Priyanjali Dhoot, an MSc Student at WBS, was also pleased by such a step from Warwick Network: “Programmes like these keep the motivation level of the students intact, contribute towards holistic development and make students believe in their dreams.”

Successful entrepreneurial ventures started on university campuses include Facebook, Dell, and Beautiful Bottoms.

‘Naseba Naru’, is a Japanese saying meaning ‘where there is a will, there is a way.’ Dragons’ Den – originated from Japan – helps people to pitch their business ideas in order to secure investments from venture capitalists.
