Polsoc launches undergrad research award
Warwick’s Politics Society (PolSoc) has collaborated with homelessness charity Coventry Cyrenians to launch the Cyrenians Undergraduate Research Award (CURA).
The award is exclusively aimed at students of Warwick University in any year of study, provided they are a part of Polsoc.
Coventry Cyrenians are a local charity which seeks to raise awareness and support about homelessness in the University’s local area while working closely with Warwick PolSoc to promote civic activism among young people.
Students are required to submit a 2,000 word essay, using the following template for discussion:
In light of existing reforms to housing and family-related benefits, and proposals for further reform, what will the impact of changes to the welfare system be on young, low-income and homeless families in the UK?
The successful student will receive an award and prize at the ‘Warwick Politics Society Awards Dinner’ in March 2014.
Charles McKnight, president of Warwick PolSoc, has expressed his delight with the collaboration. He told the Boar: “[It has] taken over a year of partnership to set up the award. What started off as an impossible idea, has turned into something the society is proud to offer to undergraduates across campus.”
