Cosmo March re-elected DDO
Cosmo March has been re-elected as Democracy and Development officer for 2013/14.
The other candidates running for the position were Joanne Phillips, Hiten Shah and Sam Tracy.
The current Democracy and Development officer, Cosmo March, will remain in office until August, when he will begin his second term.
Lewis Fowler, who was part of Mr March’s campaign and was thanked in his victory speech, told the Boar: “We’re ecstatic that Cosmo had been reelected.
“Hopefully Cosmo and the Union team can look forward to achieving great things for great students.”
Some of the current Democracy and Development officer’s key manifesto pledges are to develop and estate agent rating system, improving drinks promotions and to make more of the SU democratic procedures online.
Warwick SU describes the Democracy and Development Officer role as being: “responsible for ensuring that all the democratic structures in the Union operate appropriately and are relevant to our members.”
“They oversee the election and referenda periods and are heavily involved with all of the preparation, execution and resolution of Union Council, the Executive Committee and Union General Meetings.
“They are also the lead Officer for student feedback in the Union, ensuring Warwick SU stays relevant to its members. The Democracy and Development Officer reports to the appropriate Union and University bodies on financial matters.”
