Disillusioned with everything
**A mountain of shit. That is what I see. This mountain dominates my vision. This faecal mass, this putrid and pungent colossus stands tall, smothering any flicker of hope beneath a thick layer of excrement.**
This mountain is a hypocritical, morally bankrupt political class that have lost touch with reality. A democratically-elected government that claims to represent society as a whole. Is this it? Is the best we can come up with?
A pack of growling, slobbering, wolves snapping and biting each other’s tails? A Prime Minister who dances to the beat of the bankers’ drum. A schoolboy in a suit, blessed with astounding idiocy or else a formidable ability to deceive.
An accomplice that barely merits a mention. An opposition leader whose tongue appears to be frantically trying to escape his mouth.
A foreign minister who denounces dictators and ‘terrorists’ in an attempt to elevate foreign policy to a moral level, though it is quite clearly based entirely on projected economic gain.
A succession of dirty little wars that spread democracy like a contagious disease, ravaging the most vulnerable in an attempt to secure oil or unravel the carpet of capitalism so it covers another forgotten corner of the planet.
{{ quote A war on the minds of individuals that creates a prison with invisible bars. This is not about indoctrination in which the mind is incarcerated, but strategically placing each seed of thought inside a specially conditioned greenhouse }}
A war on terror, justified by the fact that Al-Qaeda kill and torture innocent civilians – conveniently forgetting that the United States engages in exactly the same practice. As does Britain.
A corporate sector that pay lip service to global issues such as climate change and poverty whilst worshipping one true profit; if the balance sheet disagrees with the morality, the latter is forgotten.
An inexplicable war on drugs that is not only impossible to win but impossible to fight.
A narrow range of ideas drawn from a collection of wealthy individuals and propagated in such a way that they appear to be the collective will of the people.
A war on the minds of individuals that creates a prison with invisible bars. This is not about indoctrination in which the mind is incarcerated, but strategically placing each seed of thought inside a specially-conditioned greenhouse.
A plethora of television talent shows that distract and sap the political will of the populace, while perpetuating a grotesque distortion of the American Dream in which anybody can become anything.
A culture that is so short-sighted it is virtually blind, floundering from one calamity to the next, without any recourse to see better.
A disillusioned populace that watch and wait, until tick becomes tock and tock becomes tick.
