D-A-D: A piece of Denmark comes to the Midlands

**D-A-D have played together since the 1980’s. A band name which derived from their original name, Disneyland After Dark (which was swiftly changed after threat of a lawsuit), is based on the idea that when the lights are out in Disneyland, anything can happen.**

D-A-D has played a crucial role in shaping the current rock scene in Denmark and every year the three initials headline all the major Danish festivals, where they often conclude an evening of music by playing to a packed audience of tens of thousands of jumping Danes.

After their 1989 album _No Fuel Left for the Pilgrims_, they quickly received plaudits in Europe and the US, eventually signing a million dollar contract with Warner Brothers. The bands music is rooted in the so-called revolution against the 80’s pessimism and nonchalant attitude which became prevalent among Punk musicians and their audiences. D-A-D’s ethos was to bring joy and life with their performances. With this, they even earned the prestigious claim of having a genre named after them – cowpunk.

Their latest record, with tongue-twisting title _DIC•NII•LAN•DAFT•ERD•ARK_ is the eleventh studio album from the veteran Danes. Released in November 2011 and nominated for the Danish Rock Release of the Year in 2012, the album has been praised as the band returned to their characteristic wackiness and eccentricity. Now, the people of the Midlands are in for a treat, as D-A-D will bring their unique brand of Danish rock to Wolverhampton and teach the UK a thing or two about what Denmark has to offer.

_**D-A-D play the Slade Rooms in Wolverhampton on March 1st. Tickets are £7 for Warwick students, which includes transport to and from Campus. For more information, visit the [event page](https://www.facebook.com/events/140437112782070/).**_
