Warwick loses out to Cambridge in University Challenge

**Warwick has been kicked out of the second round of University Challenge.**

After facing stiff competition from King’s College, Cambridge, they failed to go through to the quarterfinals of the competition, which aired on BBC Two on Monday night.

Despite a strong performance against Aberdeen University in the first round, the Cambridge side beat Warwick with 185 to 160 points.

Warwick’s team captain, Andrew Shaw, a third year Maths student, spoke to the _Boar_: “As a team, we were pleased with our performance, but obviously disappointed not to win, given how close it was. King’s were a very good team and the match was fun to play, if incredibly tense!

“We’d put a lot of effort in to improving between the two episodes and all knew loads more, but sadly it (just) wasn’t enough.”

As well as Mr Shaw, the team included: History of Medicine student Sarah Jane Bodell, Chemistry student James Wheatley and third-year Classical Civilisation student Sean Quinn.

However the team were positive about their time on the game show, with Mr Shaw commenting: “Going on the show was an amazing experience and I’d jump at the chance to have another go (were it possible).

“Besides that, I’d just like to say best of luck to King’s in the rest of the competition! Also, everyone should get behind next year’s Warwick team, fingers crossed they’ll be able to make it to the quarterfinals or further!”
