Man cautioned after incident at nightclub

A man was cautioned following an assault outside Evolve in the early hours of the morning on Tuesday November 6.

Police took action after a disturbance during the club’s Notorious Mondays event spilled out into Spencer Street.

Another man was later taken to hospital for injuries to his chin and above his eyebrow.

CCTV caught a suspect trying to run from the scene and a 20-year-old from Cheshire was arrested. He was questioned the following morning, admitted the attack and received a caution.

A police spokesperson said: “We would like to thank the public who assisted us and the town’s CCTV operators who as well as gathering vital evidence by recording the assault, followed the male with their cameras as he attempted to run off, until officers managed to arrest him.”
