Radio 1’s Nick Grimshaw for Warwick freshers’
Warwick Student Union’s (SU) organisers are promising a vibrant and varied Freshers’ Week.
The first fortnight of term will see the return of well-known events, including Warwick Snow’s Avalanche, Zane Lowe’s DJ set and hypnotist Tony Lee. This year’s Freshers’ party is set in the Prohibition Era, with Radio 1 DJ Nick Grimshaw featuring in one of the rooms.
However there will be some changes to the event schedule, mainly to the Friday nights. Entertainments Manager at the SU, Rob Chamberlain, commented: “Previous years’ Freshers weeks have been fantastic. We work very hard over the Summer to make the Freshers programme the best that we can and we love seeing the new influx of Freshers (and returners) having a great time in the venues again. Freshers fortnight is always massive – I don’t expect this year to be any different!”
Speaking to the _Boar_, the SU reported that details on line-up announcements will be made live “as soon as things are confirmed and contracted”. Tickets and passes will go on sale on September 12.
Prospective fresher, Andreas Avraam, shared his expectations: “Tinchy Stryder is sick, and I just saw Zane Lowe at Sundown festival, he was immense, it’s going to be a live freshers”.
However he also voiced his concerns that the start of lectures would coincide with Freshers’ events: “since we start work at the same time as Freshers, I’m sure some lecturers are going to get annoyed at my time keeping”.
