Warwick Trustee dies
Ian King, Warwick Students’ Union (SU) lay trustee, passed away after a protracted battle with ill health. He is survived by his wife and daughter.
King was the Chief Executive of NUS Services Ltd. Under his leadership, NUS Services became a more professional and progressive organisation which generated thousands of pounds for Students’ Unions across the country. He was awarded the NUS Lifetime Contribution Award in 2010.
King served as a lay trustee at Warwick SU. He was also a member of the University’s Research Ethics Committee (UREC). An SU spokesperson said: “We will miss a great friend and supporter. We will ensure we pay tribute to his memory by continuing to represent our members, challenge injustice and improve lives for students.”
President of the SU Leo Boe paid his tribute to King: “Hearing different peoples’ accounts of their experiences with Ian King really made me wish I had gotten to know him better. Many people refer to him as a mentor and a strong advocate for student rights the whole way through his career. He is a unique example of altruism and selflessness and will be greatly missed across the movement.”
