New Leam learning space

Talks about establishing a learning space for University students in Leamington are underway with plans currently being finalised.

The plans involve developing an area similar to that of the Learning Grid based in Leamington for the large number of students that live in the town.

The space is intended to be situated in the arches under the railway line towards Brunswick Street, making it easily accessible. The hope is that the University library would manage and run the space.

Entry would be card-access only, ensuring that the space remained solely for the use of Warwick University students.

The space would consist of a large study area with computer access and possibly a group learning resource.

Discussions are progressing and it is hoped that if the project goes ahead, the space will be up and running towards the end of this academic year.

Second-year English and French student Polly Gregson says “It’s a great idea. I’m not sure how much time I’d spend there during term-time, but it would be really useful for revising during the exam period. Being able to study away from the distractions at home, without having to get the bus to campus, would make a big difference.”
