Warwick Medical School celebrates tenth anniversary

Warwick Medical School is celebrating its tenth anniversary this year after a decade of rapid development.

The Medical School is the only all-graduate entry medical school in the UK, being recognised for its national and international contribution to education and research in health.

The School initially opened in 2000 as part of a partnership with Leicester Medical School. The School has since opened the Medical Teaching Centre in 2001, followed by the Warwick Clinical Trials Unit in 2005 and the Surgical Training Centre in 2009.

In addition to the establishment of advanced new facilities, the School was granted independent degree-awarding status and was the first Medical School to join a strategic partnership with the Medical Research Council.

In the short space of ten years the School has become very reputable, being ranked in the top ten UK schools for the quality of health services research and being acknowledged for excellence in teaching and research.

Dean of the Medical School Professor Peter Winstanley said: “So much has been achieved in such a short space of time and we look forward to building on that success in the future. It is an exciting time to be Dean at Warwick Medical School.”
