Interview: Andy White, Societies Officer

**How are you feeling?**

I was feeling very faint in the hour up to the results, I was not in a good place. It’s just about sinking in now.

**Did you think you were in for a change during the campaign?**

I never thought I’d be out of the running, but I never thought I would be favourite. I always thought I was in with a chance, but I was never confident.

**How did the campaign go?**

It was really good, I chose not to do lecture shout-outs because, from personal experience, that’s always really annoyed me and I always thought that loses you more votes than it gains.

**What policy do you think will be the easiest to implement?**

The thing that I think is the easiest to change will be a society’s calendar. I also want to have the TVs ready for the societies advertisements. I spoke to James Hall about it and apparently that’s all in place, it might be ready before I get in.

**What will you be doing between now and when you take over in the summer?**

I’m going be as involved as I have been until now, I’m really upset as I’ve been on the Rag exec for four years, and our elections are next week and I’m leaving and I’m absolutely gutted about that. I’ll still be running the pub quiz for a couple of weeks, I’m on the societies committee until the end of the year. I’m going to be as involved as I can be and see what problems students want solved.

**How do you want to improve relations between the Union and student media?**

I’m concerned about Raw especially; they need to find a new home. I’d also like to see Warwick TV be more easily available to the student audience. And we’ve got a good relationship with the Boar and we’re happy to help with any problems you might have.

**How do you think the experience you’ve had in the societies you’ve been involved with will help you in your future job?**

A lot basically. I’ve been on small execs and big execs and I’ve seen how they differ. I’ve seen a lot of great stuff done that I would have never thought of.
