How do you feel?

I still can’t quite believe it, very very happy.

How do you think the campaign went?

Last night I went home and I slept until 3:30 in the afternoon, I’m so tired, I’ve worked so hard during the week. It was so good going out there and talking to so many students, finding out what they really thought about things, what they really wanted to change, I really enjoyed that actually. It was the most tiring week of my life, but at the same time probably one of the most enjoyable as well.

Have you got any messages for those who voted for you?

Just thank you, thank you very much! I won’t disappoint you next year!

Did you think you were in with a chance during the campaign?

It’s so difficult to call, I was a returning officer last year and the year before, so I’ve seen a lot of campaigns. It’s always been so difficult to call in those and I’ve found exactly the same thing this year.

What do you plan to do about keeping tuition fees at their current level?

That’s something as a whole that the union’s campaigning on, I’ll be helping in any way I can.

What are you going to do about the student media centre?

I’m very passionate about finding a place for these societies and getting them to work more together as well, for example tonight is a brilliant showcase of what they can do together. So my main point is just to find funding, we don’t have money internally.

We’re trying to get money from sponsorships and grants to actually make that happen.

What are your plans for a takeout?

I’m not going to guarantee that we’ll have one, but it’s definitely something that students want, so I think it’s definitely something we should look into and see if it’s financially viable. And I see no reason why we should not go ahead with it.
