Woman raped in Leamington

Police are seeking information after a 19 year-old woman was raped in Leamington on Friday evening.

The young woman was physically assaulted and raped during the attack.

The incident took place between 5.30pm and 6.30pm on Friday 13 March on Riverside Walk, which runs alongside the River Leam near Newbold Terrace East.

The woman was approached while she was walking alongside the river by a white male in his mid-twenties, who gave his name as ‘Tom’ or ‘Thomas’.

The man is said to have had a pale, spotty complexion with bushy eyebrows and brown hair.

At the time of the attack he was wearing dark blue jeans, a long-sleeved grey top and a black jacket.

Detective Inspector Graham Farren of Warwickshire Police said: “This was a very serious and frightening attack by a stranger. We are doing all we can to trace the suspect.

He added: “We would urge anyone who may have been in the area at the time, and may have seen anything suspicious to contact police.”

The police are inviting anyone with information to call 101 and to cite ‘incident number 38 of March 14’.
