Back-to-back Leamington fixtures postponed due to Covid-19

Leamington FC’s upcoming fixtures against Darlington and Farsley Celtic have been postponed after two members of the Brakes’ first team squad tested positive for Covid-19.

Paul Holleran’s side were due to host Darlington at the Community Stadium on Saturday (17 October). A week later (24 October), the Brakes were scheduled to face Farsley Celtic at The Citadel. Both fixtures will be rescheduled for later in the season, with the National League responsible for organising postponed matches.

According to a club statement, two members of the Leamington first team have tested positive for the coronavirus – with one of those players remaining asymptomatic. A club spokesperson continued: “No other players are currently displaying any symptoms at this moment in time, although a number will have to enter into a period of self-isolation.”

The decision to postpone Leamington’s next two fixtures was made following talks between Covid Medical Officers from the National League and the club.

The statement continued: “This has been ratified by the National League and all players and relevant staff will now enter a period of isolation from football activity until 25 October. The club has followed strict Covid guidelines and have liaised with both Darlington and Farsley Celtic as well as last Saturday’s opponents Chester FC.”

Leamington will host Gateshead at the Community Stadium on 31 October in their next fixture.
