Hot or Not?

The navy suit has always been a classic – but with the General Election coming up, now is the time for Elizabeth Pugsley to ask the important questions: who wears it best?

Ed Miliband

Never one to shy away from setting trends, Ed switches things up a little with a tie the colour of another party. The pink tone perhaps reflecting his willingness to form a coalition, it complements the dusky hues of his eyes whilst contrasting the subtle, silken texture of his navy two-piece. Whilst his shirt sleeves do seem to be attempting to escape, the lack of breast-pocket is artfully minimalistic and efficient; some would say, much like his party’s economic policies.

As unpredictable as ever, Nick tears up the fashion rule book by dropping the tie for this dark blue ensemble; the lack of accessory indicates a daring charm whilst drawing attention to the effortless single-button blazer. Sure, the loose, relaxed cut of the suit could show that he struggles to afford trousers that fit in our times of austerity, but instead, I think it illustrates just how much of the every-day, man-about-the-dock he truly is.

Always the traditionalist, David dons the classic suit – and wears it perfectly; complete with pockets, tie and a barely-there belt. Rejecting Miliband’s ground-breaking colour choices, David instead turns back to a retro wide-cut trouser, harkening to the 70s, a time of flares and Thatcherism. The pleats, conspicuously skimming his problem areas, are clearly in for SS15. Much like his hard-line, focused mentality – the steel-blue tie screams masculinity – this is an outfit to be reckoned with.

Despite the daringly parted collar on Clegg and Miliband’s flash of sleeve, it seems that Dave has taken the lead. Ever sleek and chic, the smooth cut of his suit compliments his form, and his forehead, perfectly.
