Call on Leigh

The societies officer for 2014/15 has been announced: third-year English Literature student Isaac Leigh will be taking up the position.

In his manifesto, Mr Leigh’s pledges include further pushing charity fundraising amongst societies by encouraging every society to have a charity secretary, organising professional-led marketing workshops for societies and offering multi-year discount packages for students to buy Societies Federation memberships for up to four years.

The new societies officer announced that he would like to introduce a new initiative, which would see students enjoy a “three year discount for SocsFed”.

He thanked those who voted for him, then joked: “I guess you didn’t have much choice.”

Mr Leigh ran for the position unopposed, however, as with other positions, the option to re-open nominations and therefore re-run the election with the option for other candidates to run was available.

As societies officer Leigh will be in charge of supporting all student societies, allocating society budgets and managing exec training.
